they may forget…

They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.Carl W. Buechner

i always believed this…that it is not the words, or what happened that i remember, but what i felt about it. the effect it had on me. like a mirror… it’s like when you meet an old friend…you feel “at home”, because you know him, and you feel you trust him, you feel him close. no matter how much a “stranger” he would look, it is the feeling you had then and it is the feeling you’re having now. you cannot deny it.

i remember the “good” feelings people had about me, and, as much as i didn’t want it, and even more intense, the bad ones… they follow me as shadows, ready to cast shade on my most sunny days…

so how did you make them feel?

you made them laugh? you made them cry? (slightly unlikely…) you stole a heart beat for a second? you earned a smile? or you made them angry, disappointed? did you even make them feel anything? cause if you didn’t, you were dead for them in the first place…

and a song i love:

Oh, what a quote…there is another one I also like- “When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but with creatures of emotion, creatures bristling with prejudice, and motivated by pride and vanity” Dale Carnegie

  • nice quote…but it’s not all about “pride and prejudice” :)
